Wicked Witch
After a long day mixing potions, it’s time to put that witchcraft to good use…
Step 1: Using an old black dress, sew black tulle material over the top of the skirt.
Step 2: Glue purple sequins to the dress and skirt.
Step 3: Using a plain black pointy witch hat, tie a purple ribbon around the base.
Step 4: Stick plastic spiders and sequins all over the hat and leave to dry.
Wind-Up Doll
A cute costume that can be made to be exceptionally scary or simply sweet!
Step 1: On a large piece of cardboard, draw and cut out the shape of a key.
Step 2: Using your cardboard key cut out, draw around it and cut it out, so you have an identical pair.
Step 3: Paint both cardboard cutouts either silver or gold and leave to dry.
Step 4: Cut two large pieces of elastic (enough to use as arm straps) and glue the ends to one side of the key, make loops with both pieces of elastic, roughly in the same area.
Step 5: Spread glue across the other piece of cardboard and sandwich to the piece of cardboard with the dried elastic loops in place, and press down firmly.
Step 6: Dress your child in an old fashioned dress, knee high socks, dolly shoes and place the arm loops attached to the key on your child so it stands up on their back.
Eye-Spider
Spin a web of mystery with a wonderful eight-legged spider costume that’ll capture the real essence of Halloween.
Step 1: Stuff eight long black socks with newspaper and tie the ends tightly with elastic bands.
Step 2: Using an old black t-shirt sew the eight stuffed socks to the back.
Step 3: Glue 2 large googly eyes onto a black hat and put your child in a pair of black trousers and they’re ready to trick or treat with style!
Dare to be a Devil?
Take them all by surprise in this haunting devil costume, make your own wings and dress to impress.
Step 1: On a large piece of cardboard, draw a large pair of devil wings and with a pointy tail attached.
Step 2: Cut out your pair of wings and paint them red, leave them to dry.
Step 3: Repeat the same process by drawing around the cutout. Cut out the shape and again, paint.
Step 4: Cut two large piece of elastic to use for arm straps and glue to the inside of one cutout. Make two loops for both pieces of elastic, roughly in the same area on the same piece of card.
Step 5: Glue the wings together and leave to dry.
Step 6: Dress your child in a simple red t-shirt and black trousers, slip on the arm bands for the devil wings and they’re ready to share the scare.
Hair-raising Cat
Unlucky for some: a show stopping black cat is the ideal costume for Halloween, in just a few simple steps your child could be ready to win any competition…
For the ears…
Step 1: Using two sheets of black foam, draw two identical elongated diamonds.
Step 2: Fold these shapes around a plain black headband and glue firmly in place to create cat ears.
For the tail…
Step 3: Sew a small black feather boa to the plain black dress or trousers that your child will be wearing and top it off with a plain, long sleeved black top.
For the whiskers…
Step 4: Using child-friendly face paints, paint either white, black or grey whiskers on your child’s face and they’re ready!
